Nothing revolutionary... but this winter season has taught something about Clinopoles anyway:
-I do need hardier paints for my flick-lock telescopic poles: even car touch-up enamels can be scraped off poles by sliding telescopic upper segments. Maybe some way of etching or sanding the pole shaft before painting could work. What kind of paints do the manufacturers use?
-My first set of clinopoles was - and still is in use - twist-lock telescopic Leki poles. There the fit between segments need not be as snug as in flick-lock poles, so paint has stayed on these poles for some 10 years of more or less active use.
-Folding pole mechanisms as they are now are not strong enough for real backcountry skiing/splitboarding
-Immediate avalanche danger check - principle may easily be adapted to any inclinometer
