Heureka!

The tiny 25 mm tubular vial plus a 3-d printed vial holder seem to work and finally make he Clinopole a real DIY thing! The vial is put in the holder through bottom, closed in with two-sided mounting tape, put on the pole and secured by two tiny cable ties.

I contacted a snow science guru prof Jordy Hendrikx in Montana State University: He remembered Clinopoles from Innsbruck meeting two years ago, and wanted to run a trial on them: First: would they help novices to learn estimating slope angles, would they gain insight to the avalanche risk (and perhaps eventually: will Clinopoles help users to make safer route choices in avalanche terrain?). Corona virus permitting, a study would be done this winter, and results should be ready by ISSW meeting of 2021.
